I started reading The Cleansing of America by W. Cleon Skousen. So far the book is enjoyable and has made me ponder on what is in store for us. This book contains Dr Skousen's thoughts on various scriptures and words of the prophets. Please keep in mind that these are just my thoughts on another mans thoughts. There is no way to know if these thoughts are the truth until the time comes that some of these events take place.
Dr. Skousen talks about a great disease which will cleanse America of all evil. The majority of the population will be killed off and cities will be left empty of life. After America is cleansed then the good people of the earth with gather in America and begin to live in a society governed by God's laws and not the laws of men.
There is also a discussion on the lost ten tribes and there coming from the north to rejoin those left living in America. There are some interesting ideas and thoughts on how the lost tribes are still one body living together possibly not on this world.
The United States of America will no longer be known by that name and will be known as The Kingdom of God. Brigham Young is quoted as saying the flag of the United States will still be used due to what it has stood for.
What I have read so far in this book is interesting and even though I don't feel like I have learned a lot, it has made me ponder the scriptures quoted and my knowledge of the second coming.
The disease part...it's ALL OVER in the scriptures. So as far as I'm concerned, it's on it's way.

Did some research on the disease which causes purple spots on the skin. Could be AIDS even because the people that get it eventually get Kaposis sarcoma which is a cancer only the immunosuppressed get. But there are other diseases it could me too....Lyme disease, Lupus, Sarcoidosis....although if you relate it to the scripture, definetly could be AIDS. Although there are those who are innocent & righteous who have gotten AIDS through blood transfusions and maternal-child transmission. So who knows?
ReplyDeleteOne thing you have to remember also, is that in the Bible times, they spoke very figuratively. Instead of using verbs & adverbs to describe something, they would use a noun. For example, if they were trying to describe something as "hot" they would simple say that it was a fire. Does this make sense? I have a real hard time with the Bible becasue I never know what to take literally or what is being talked about in this manner.
Another thought is famine. Watching "Food Inc." it talks about how we're growing dependent on only a couple of strains of a few different crops for everything. Bacteria changes and it won't take much for it to mutate into something that we can't kill with pesticides - thus wiping out our food supply that also feeds our animals. Since we provide food for much of the world this could be quite catastrophic. Just food for thought....
