Above Cicero is talking about laws made by man that contradict Natural law are not true laws and are no just. Just because something is made a law does not make it right or good.

This of all the taxes we have and how it gives the government power over our lives. The federal government collects taxes to redistribute to the state governments. If the states do not follow federal mandates then the states do not get their money. This breaks the check and balance of the state on federal government as the state is dependent on the federal government to function day to day. Unfair taxes take our hard earned money and place it the hand of task master who we must obey to receive services or our own money back. Yes there is a place for taxes and they are needed for a community to exist but they must be limited to useful services that benefit society as a whole.

The quotes above are about the Theodosian Code under the Romans. The more I study history, the more I realize it does just repeat. There are not many new problems. I often hear the founders are outdated because of our technology. The more I study the founders the more brilliant I realize they were. They developed a constitution based on human nature and natural law which cover all ages no matter the technology. The world faces the same issues over and over again but as humans we think we are much more advanced than those that preceded us instead of learning from them so we keep making the same mistakes over and over again. On of the things that scare me is how many people say "Anything for our safety." Why are we so quick to give up our liberties for measure that appear to provide security but do little but control us more and more? Without liberty we will have no security at all!
